Frequently Asked Questions

The 2024 Open Enrollment period for Obamacare/ACA health insurance is November 1, 2024 to December 15, 2024. If you miss this window you can’t enroll until the Marketplace re-opens in November 2024 unless you have a special “life event” such as having a baby or losing your job. For complete information on deadlines for 2024 go here.

If you don’t have insurance, you’ll be fined and you won’t be able to receive free subsidies to reduce your monthly cost until enrollment re-opens in November 2024. For 2024 the fine is 2.5% of your annual income or $695 per adult, whichever is higher, and there are additional fines if you have children. The fee increases every year based on inflation.

If you’re unemployed or make less than $47,080 a year you can get a subsidy from the government to help you. Try our calculator or start the application process here and your subsidy will automatically be calculated based on the profile information you provide. Also make sure you know all your options and read our "Top 5 Changes for 2024".

Complete this short profile form and your subsidy amount will automatically be calculated, if you qualify for one. You do not actually receive a subsidy check in the mail, instead you’ll immediately see a discount in your monthly insurance cost on the plan you select. The government then works with your carrier to pay for the subsidy amount you’re eligible for.

Our Carriers

Our Insurance carriers generally have the ability to define and adjust the number, the qualifications and the quality of providers in their networks. They also may limit the number of providers in their networks as a means of conserving costs or coordinating care.
